Yellow Room

The children in the Yellow Room are aged between 2 and 3 years old. At this age they begin to use their language to express their wants and needs. In the morning we start with “Circle Time.” During this time, we start with our morning song “Who Came To School Today.” In the Yellow Room we cover the days of the week, months of the year, colors, shapes, and numbers as well as our names. Our instructors work diligently to count and recognize numbers as well as letters.

During “Activity Time” the children are broken up into smaller groups and rotate through various learning stations in the classroom. These stations include, table toys, blocks and dramatic play. Each child stays in a station for a duration of 20 minutes. Every day, we read three stories to help enlighten the children’s vocabulary as well as their imagination through reading.

Yellow Room children take part in music and dance as well as karate. These arts help the children learn about different cultures and art forms. If weather permits, the children will take a neighborhood walk or go on the fenced roof for play and exercise. This classroom level is geared to introduce the children to a more structured classroom environment, in preparation for Pre-Kindergarten.
